Suggestions_Compliments
Woo, hey hey! Just joined like a few minutes lol so far so good, this site is pretty impressive . So anyhoo, a few suggestions and a few compliments;
SUGGESTIONS: - I noticed that there are no posts (other than Rastan's) on the forums! I take it that most users are not interested in the community, just here for the music. That's fair enough, but maybe if there was a more "happy" and "musical" layout perhaps, that would catch people's attention. - Also, maybe having this more like a kinda "blog" than a download center would make things a bit more... "discussionable". So let's say that the admins and stuff put up personalized messages on the homepage, with their avatars etc, you know... Just what's been going on during their day, random thoughts, site annoucements, etc etc... - Variety. Now, I know that you guys are doing the best you can, but people want more music! Not complaining lol just a request so that you get more hits here instead of other mp3 search and download sites... - The "members area options" is not working, please look into this. Thank You. - "Site News" page should not exist if had on the homepage, like I said - in blogging form. Just gets people more interested. That's all. I know for fact that draws my attention. It's like reading someone's diary you've pinched - you just can't help it, it's tempting... - I've forgotten the rest of the suggestions I had lol Sorry, listening to 'Bodies' - Drowning Pool, xXx Remix... Distracting lol...
COMPLIMENTS: Wellllllll... Where do I start? lol - Great maintenence - job well done! - Javascript. Fantastic idea instead of loading into a totally new page for the information! - Very user-friendly - congrats on the efforts! - Extended searchs are fantastic... - Click-ables! lol There's lots of stuff to surf around on the site, doesn't get boring for quite some time - pulled off very smoothly - Well, we all love this word - "FREE mp3s!!" lol Also, I believe that they are legal, so that's great. - Extremely easy to register membership, takes only a few seconds and there's no spam involved or information such as address, etc required. - Regular check-ups on links are very much appreciated, thanks!! - The links to feedback and link reporting are soooooo easy! - Informative. The info we get on the mp3s is MUCH more than what you get on other databases. - Honesty. You'll actually let us know it's run-time. Sometimes I'll D/L songs and only get like 5 seconds of them, when they say it's a full. And you also give us the file size which is also a tremendous help in determining it's run-time, etc... - Rastan did a good job with the introduction to the rules, plus a warm welcome, thanks!! - Welp, I've forgotten the rest again =P teehee sorry yet again!
Please look into the suggestions/requests and congratulations on running a smooth mp3 download center database website!
Cheers, -xXRayeXx |

thanks for the nice review
hiya, first,thanks for your post,as it's the first post we get, it's special for us,we'll always remember you ;) the forums were opened just last week,so it'll take some time to notice, and post. but i believe it'll be very active after a few weeks. because audiocrawler,as you have also noticed has many nice features,and everything's free :)
for your suggestions i'd like to write some replies, - happy&musical layout takes time,and bandwidth, audiocrawler is made to be fast,and simple. but maybe by time we'll change the layout a bit,just the way users want us to. - we are planning to get some people more involved in audiocrawler.com. that means we need moderators, editors, and any help you can give us. we want this site to be free,and helpful,so we need help. some little blog like stuff on the mainpage would be nice, thanks for the advice, i think rastan will make a box like that as we get more messages. also for site announcements and daily site suggestions we need an editor,who will probably be a forum moderator at the same time. wanna send us an e-mail about it? :) - we are working on getting more music links, but we are also trying to get working links,so it takes time to grow up the database :( - members area options are working for me? i use avant browser, but seems like it has visual problems with netscape, i'm sure rastan will fix it soon. - well,i agree site news should not be on the menu while it's on the first page, but we just want people to see how hard we're working to make this site work :) so you can call it an ego-satisfaction ;)
listening is nice, but also watch the movie "The Hitchhiker's Guide to Galaxy"
for the compliments...well,yeah...thank you :) we just feel so flattered at the moment. i think this is why we made this site :)
again, we need moderators and editors, so please help us out if you have time.

I don't use Netscape itself, I use Mozilla. But yeah, same thing. There always seems to be a particular format websites must use or make other versions especially for problems or bugs with Netscape.. I am now thinking I should go back to using Opera, it's pretty stylish and user-friendly.. Nice interface with tabs, instead of windows mulitplying (which is extremely irritating).. Anyway, sorry I have not replied to your post.. I did through feedback, though.. I enquired about the editor/mod/etc thing position, but as long as there are actually members who start participating in the forums. There seems to be a start, so that's great! Congratulations. Hopefully we'll see more of them perking up... I also remembered one of the other suggestions I had.. I think that there are too many forum thingos to keep track of.. It would literally be almost impossible.. You would require a mod for each forum.. I think that there should be less.. Like, just one for advertising, whether it be band or instruments for sale etc, and they can just start their topic there. Otherwise, you're looking at hours worth of reading over posts, checking if they're spam/appropriate, because honestly - people can't be bothered to report such things.. Like I said, we're here for the music. But anyway, like.. That's up to you guys what you think of doing with that.. Maybe there should also be an off-topic forum, if I haven't noticed that before... I would also like to know who the webmaster is for the site and I would like you to visit www.riaa.com, it's got some stuff up there about legal and all about mp3s etc.. And no, do not worry, I am not a lawyer lol. Don't plan on it either. If there is a problem with my post, by all means - please delete it. But yes, about the webmaster... I'm assuming that AC uses a template, so there wouldn't be much trouble in getting a new layout for every month or season.. I'm not stressing that this is a major problem, but that change every now and then is good. You can download tons of free templates from thousands of sites, and their sizes aren't all that big, if that's an issue. I mean, hey - they're free = they're small in size. So you can still run this site for free. Which brings me to another question (yes, I am very curious :P). I have noticed that the site does not host any of the mp3s directly, but links it through other sites. So that means if I have some music I can contribute with, I cannot upload it onto the database? Like, in other words, does it have to be hosted on another website, then linked here? I assume the answer is yes seeing as otherwise the site would not run for free (audiocrawler.com).
But all in all, thanks for listening to your members
Cheers, -xXRayeXx

well,after spending many years using netscape, i really got bored of the startup time so i switched to ie, now i use avant browser,it's like firefox,but it runs faster :) at least on winblows machines ;) i have seen your mail, and i think rastan will have make you a mod,as soon as he gets back from holiday. well,yes, even he needs a vacation. you're right about the forum divisions, at least i think the same too, rastan wanted to have as much divisions as possible,but i think we'll need to make it smaller and more compact,so that we can track it easier. it's not a problem at the moment,but as we get more daily posts we'll have less time :( i know riaa, and it's a nice site, but the concept is a little different than us :) and yes,we can't host any files as we can't pay so much for monthly traffic :( sorry to tell that,but we do not use templates for the layout,it's all hand made,but fortunately we have good gfx guys around,maybe we can work on it,but not soon :(

lol I hope he's having a good time! I think everybody needs a break these days, it's such a busy time of year.. So stressful.. Anyway, about the layout.. Again, I'm not pushing it :P I can actually contribute into making gfx like banners, buttons, etc...I learnt HTML 2 years ago, but forgot it because CCS came out. I didn't have time to learn that so all my sites etc ran on HTML but soon died. The other stuff was way better, with their layouts and all, no competition. But anyway, I could help out in you guys want a new banner or something, or a logo, etc etc... I can host it on a site or e-mail it and yeah, the webmaster can do the HTML stuffs to get it up, etc. Avant browser... Hmm, I don't know.. Definately not using IE, too many bugs.. I got my computer restored yesterday.. Failed, then got it done that night again.. Piece of crap never holds up!! So did it again today, but totally wiped out everything and got Windows XP Pro. installed all over again.. It's taken me hours, my printer won't work, I just finished installing 5836 fonts (and another 614 to go).. gfx is my field.. Also, Photoshop is screwing up, first time it's done this.. An error or something pops up.. I thing it's got to do with the fonts because before I had them, it was fine.. Anyhoo, yeah.. I'll be going back and forth with IE and Mozilla. I still keep the same view about the forum thing, there's too many, to be blunt. Well, enough of my ranting... I think I'm going to go back to the ol' Macintosh.. Now, where's that laptop?!
Cheers, -xXRayeXx
